Located on the former tarmac of a municipal airport and with direct views of its landmarked flight tower, this design recalls its site’s midcentury history through its colors and shapes, offering new vitality as a community hub for recreation, food-growing, and multi-generational play. The bath house and pool anchor the park, where a trellised breezeway showcases the project’s sustainability measures: green roofs, interior courtyards, rain gardens. Alternating solar panels and flowering vines provide dappled shade over the breezeway and wading pool. Gates and privacy screens designed and built by the architects, who are also metalworkers, complement the muted masonry with bright color and organic form.
